Giant Snowflake Sweet Roll (Printable)

Soft, pillowy sweet rolls shaped into a stunning snowflake centerpiece for holiday breakfasts and gatherings.

# Components:

→ Dough

01 - 4 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
03 - 1 cup whole milk, warmed to approximately 110°F
04 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar
05 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
06 - 2 large eggs, room temperature
07 - 1 teaspoon salt

→ Filling

08 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
09 - 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
10 - 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
11 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

→ Icing

12 - 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
13 - 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
14 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

# Method:

01 - Combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast in a large bowl or stand mixer. Allow to sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
02 - Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix thoroughly.
03 - Gradually add flour while mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead by hand or with a dough hook for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
04 - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm environment for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
05 - In a small bowl, combine softened butter, packed brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg if using, blending well.
06 - Punch down the risen dough, transfer it onto a lightly floured surface, and divide it into four equal portions.
07 - Roll each portion into a 12-inch diameter circle. Place one circle on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spread 1/3 of the filling evenly over it, then repeat layering ending with the last dough circle on top.
08 - Position a 3-inch round cutter or glass in the center without cutting through. Using a sharp knife, slice the dough into 16 equal strips radiating from the center, leaving the core intact.
09 - Take two adjacent strips, twist each away from the other twice, then pinch their ends together. Repeat this process for all pairs to form the snowflake pattern.
10 - Cover loosely and let the shaped dough rise for 30 to 40 minutes until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F.
11 - Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. Remove and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
12 - Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
